What We're Listening to in Time of Quarantine - No. 2

As aficionados of music, I thought it would be a nice diversion to hear two different renditions of the same composition. I came across Praeludium and Allegro composed by Fritz Kreisler. Kreisler (1875-1962) was an Austrian born American composer. He is known for his rich and expressive tones, which exude warmth in his performances.

The first selection of the Praeludium and Allegro will be performed by Joshua Bell (1967-present), an American violinist and conductor. Bell studied at Indiana University under the tutelage of noted pedagogue Josef Gingold. Bell made his solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age 14.

The second selection will be played by Eddie South (1904-1962), an American Jazz violinist. South was a classically trained violinist who studied in Budapest, Paris and Chicago. It was in Paris that Stephane Grapelli introduced South to jazz.
