Newburgh Chamber Music presents a
rich classical and contemporary repertoire in the heart of
historic Newburgh, featuring professional chamber ensembles.
Newburgh Chamber Music continues to
present a diverse repertoire of classical and contemporary music
performed by the highest quality chamber ensembles. We seek an
audience that includes a large proportion of young people.
History of NCM
Newburgh Chamber Music was founded in the
year 2000 by Philip West and Carole Cowan to promote music in
the beautiful setting of Newburgh, New York and its many
historic and interesting sacred and secular venues. The concerts
draw on the professional talents of widely-acclaimed musicians
in the Hudson Valley and beyond.
Providing a rich classical and contemporary repertoire, Newburgh
Chamber Music promotes young musicians from Newburgh through its
annual scholarship program and master classes in the Newburgh
Anyone who subscribes in advance to all the concerts of the
season, or sends a contribution of $50 or more, becomes a NCM
member. Members are invited to attend the Annual Board of
Directors meeting in the spring and are encouraged to actively
support NCM by volunteering in these ways: concert
hospitality, audience development, mailing, financial
development, liaisons with school, and/or the solicitation of
program ads. Of course, your presence at the concerts is the
best support NCM could ask for. Thank you!

Artistic Director and President of NCM
fifteenth season of Newburgh Chamber Music brings special joy to
me as each concert includes friends and colleagues, including
artists I myself rarely get to see and hear.
REBEL, a marvelous authentic instrument music
group, includes a renowned harpsichordist, Dongsok Shin, who
performed as a young prodigy with an orchestra I conducted over
40 years ago.
The remarkable cellist of the Munich Philharmonic String
Quartet, Manuel von der Nahmer, is married to one of my
Innisfree, my trio with Sylvia Buccelli and
Susan Seligman, is inviting Rachel Evans and Kent Smith (which
explains the + sign) to celebrate our collaborations and
friendships of many years.
In addition to the fun of inviting many artist friends I know to
participate this season, the variety of music promises to be
